Sally Dark Rides and R & R Creative Amusement Design created this nostalgic and charming boat ride through Playland Waterworks. As one of the park's classic attractions, it offers a relaxing journey through themed vignettes lit with creative lighting, animatronics and and special effects. The ride has been a favorite for families and visitors seeking a gentle, yet atmospheric experience at the historic amusement park.
Playland Waterworks and the Crystal Mine are operated by amusing, friendly (and sometimes clumsy) gnomes. Just as one warns not to venture past “The Point of No Return”, riders are caught in an explosion and narrowly escape a downpour in the waterworks. Once past the sign, visitors face fierce dragons in a volcanic grotto, and evil trolls in Troll City. They use water cannons, swinging logs and other diabolical ploys to capture the “intruders.” A creaky collapsing dam makes for a hair-raising finale.
