Hanna-Barbera characters Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Fred, Velma, and Daphne lead guests on a high-tech, paranormal caper through a frighteningly haunted swamp.  Entering under a creepy archway, Six Flags’ guests walk through winding, fantastical marshlands to reach the beginning of their water journey.

Traveling on Ghostblaster boats, guests play detective while braving ghoulish tricks, discovering Scooby Snacks and scaring away ghosts with special fright lights.  Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Fred, Velma, and Daphne accompany riders through the haunted swamp, creepy castle and other dreaded dwellings as they work together to solve the monstrous mystery and deliver the true identities of dozens of super-scary villains to the Police Station.

After the unpopular Castaway Kids dark ride closed, the Six Flags St. Louis building sat empty and unused for a number of years.  When it was time for the park chain to do something new, they took a note from Paramount Parks who was doing a lot with Sally Dark Rides at the time.   Three Scooby-Doo Ghostblasters dark rides were operating wonderfully and had become very popular among Paramount Park guests.

When Jane Cooper, President of the Paramount association, mentioned how much they loved their Scooby rides, Six Flags President, Gary Story, put in an order for two – one for Six Flags St. Louis, and one for Six Flags Fiesta Texas.  The Sally design team then flew to Missouri to walk the Six Flags property and get a feel for the space.   Once they got there, they quickly realized they would have to design a whole new ride considering the bigger building size and the fact that it was, after all, a water ride.  Some of the elements could remain the same, but a mansion just didn’t fit the mold.  After some time, Scooby-Doo Ghostblasters – The Mystery of the Scary Swamp storyline was developed.
