Sally Dark Rides, the globally recognized leader in creating family dark rides and attractions, has earned a TEA Recognition of Merit for Treasure Hunt: The Ride. The honor was shared during the ceremony and announcement of the 31st Annual TEA Thea Awards in Orlando, Florida.
Treasure Hunt: The Ride, a stand-alone dark ride, was developed and created by Sally Dark Rides in partnership with Daniels Wood Land. Located in Monterey, California, the unique, interactive, and fully immersive attraction takes guests on a modern-day hunt for pirate treasure. Treasure Hunt: The Ride features state-of-the-art multimedia, incredible, life-like animatronics, and an original pirate tale that engages guests the moment they enter the queue. Since debuting in 2023, Treasure Hunt: The Ride has received accolades for its creativity and outstanding theming from guests and global attractions industry.
“Earning recognition from the TEA is the highest honor possible in the themed entertainment industry. Treasure Hunt: The Ride is a special project and ride we are very proud of,” shared Lauren Wood Weaver, vice president, marketing and business development, Sally Dark Rides. “We proudly share this with our project partners, Daniels Wood Land, and the thousands of guests who have sought treasure with us.”
The TEA Recognition of Merit is an expansion to TEA’s annual honors. The new recognition was created to spotlight projects that may not have received a Thea Award of Outstanding Achievement, yet demonstrate extraordinary creative artistry, innovation, and execution in the dynamic themed entertainment industry. Treasure Hunt: The Ride earned the first-ever Recognition of Merit Award for Attraction on a Limited Budget.
“Sally Dark Rides has earned three Thea Awards for some of the amazing rides we developed and installed at incredible theme parks around the world,” Weaver continued. “Treasure Hunt: The Ride is a stand-alone attraction and a first-of-its-kind endeavor for the entire Sally team. We thank TEA for recognizing our original pirate adventure this year.”
